We at Hack+Policy Foundation (“Hack+Policy Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) have created this Privacy Policy because we know you care about how the information you provide to us is used and shared. This Privacy Policy relates to the information collection and use practices of Hack+Policy Foundation in connection with our services. Under applicable law, Hack+Policy Foundation is the “data controller” of personal data collected through the events and services. This Privacy Policy applies to all parties involved with the Hack+Policy Foundation events and services, including Hack+Policy team members, individuals, and organizations who have signed up to access and use our services to post and/or sponsor our initiatives.


By being involved in our events and other initiatives, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. Each attendee acknowledges that the attendee has read, understood, and agrees to be legally bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy and the accompanying Code of Conduct for the events.

Information We Collect

The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide. Hack+Policy Foundation operates primarily through Discord. We are in no way affiliated with Discord, and Discord’s Privacy Policy applies to each user. We might require additional information in order to identify attendees during the events.

How We Use Your Information

Event Registration Information

If you would like to register and/or submit an entry for Hack+Policy Foundation’s events and/or services, you will need to provide your name, e-mail address, the name of your submission, description of your submission, names of your team members, and any other required information. We may share the Event Registration Information with the applicable sponsors. We may use such Event Registration Information to give you more tailored recommendations regarding future events.

Retention of Personal Information

We will retain your personal information in a form that identifies you only for as long as it serves the purposes for which it was initially collected as stated in this Privacy Policy, subsequently authorized, or as allowed under applicable law.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date listed at the bottom of this document. We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time, and will inform attendees as soon as they go into effect. By visiting and/or participating in our events after we make any such changes to this Privacy Policy, you are deemed to have accepted such changes. Please refer back to this Privacy Policy on a regular basis.
